I think that John McCain just sealed his fate today with his VP pick. On the other hand, I really think that his fate has been sealed for some time now. I think that no Republican can possibly win the presidential election given the current political climate (whether that is good news or bad news, in my assessment it is just a reality).
I also think that, given that the Republican party cannot possibly win, they are doing the next best thing for themselves with the McCain Palin ticket. McCain has been a real annoyance to the Republicans for a number of years and after his candidacy in this impossible race he will be effectively silenced once and for all. Also, in the future the Grand Old Party will forever be able to answer criticisms about the lack of diversity by pointing to the vp choice in the '08 election. It is smart of the GOP to get rid of their unwanted baggage in this election that they could not possibly win even if Ronald Reagan himself (the Republican party hero/idol) were to be resurrected.

Ragan has been resurrected and she is 44, a hockey mom, mother of five, very conservative, believes in small government, lower taxes and common sense. At least this is making the race very interesting this time around. Can't help but think she is best candidate of all since those who have been running the government the past six years have an incredibly low approval rating - deservedly!

Interesting that you find Palin to be on par with Reagan. No argument here on that. I guess we also agree with your assessment of the last six years, too. But how you figure that Palin is the best candidate of the four involved is quite surprising. But that's the fun thing about opinions -- they can be surprising and even shocking without being wrong or bad.
Good luck to us all in the coming election and the important aftermath.
