Remembering a Time Before I Was Born...

I was happy to take possession of prints of these photos that were offered to those of us that attended Aunt Jean's funeral. I think it was thanks to Lisa that the pictures were available. The old clothing and the out-dated hairstyles seem funny to look at...but I found that I could stare for long stretches of time at the faces of the young Aunt Jean, Uncle Paul, Aunt Carol, the revered Gramma Frahm, and Cleova. Are the younger girls Aunts Joan and Linda?

There is something hypnotic about looking back into a moment in time and imagining what they were thinking, feeling, doing, and how it would be to be there with them. Chances are that thoughts and feelings were pretty much the same then as now, but the distance in time makes it interesting to me.

And honestly, I don't know if I'll ever be able to see a picture of Gramma Frahm and not have a joyful tear come to my eye, for missing her...
