I picked up the girls on Saturday after they had spent the week at camp. Here are some pictures that I took. [Click on the pictures to see larger images.]
The girls and leaders of the Fort Lauderdale Stake Girls' Camp 2009.
The week was spent at Price Sanders Scout Reservation Boy Scout camp in South Central Florida, near the southwest corner of lake Okeechobee.
The camp has a COPE course. There is a small pond, amphitheater, and climbing tower.
Firewood is plentiful, and there are many nicely groomed open spaces for frisbee, etc.
The camp also has a nice pool facility and a very adequate dining hall with an excellent porch.
The girls had access to showers (although some never used them) and other important plumbing facilities.
Courtney shared her tent with Ashley (above, left). Her cot had a small hole in it when she got there, and a larger hole when she left.
The Youth Camp Leaders (YCLs) slept in one section (left), while the younger girls shared another group of tents.
Inside the dining hall can be seen many Boy Scout crafts hanging from the rafters. The hall multi-functional and had a friendly and open atmosphere. On the porch were many rocking chairs and the shady spot was a favorite gathering place.
Campers wore color-coded shirts. The pinks were first-year scouts. Courtney wore the pale green of the YCLs. She is pictured here with some of the girls that she was assigned to assist.

On there final day of camp there was much gathering for picture-taking and other good-bye rituals.
Dark blue shirts were worn by adult staff and youth junior-staffers. MJ's shirt matches the color of the trees.
"Okay, everybody smile for the camera. Wait, one more!"
The girls from the Plantation Ward had made a banner. MJ and others signed each others' shirts.
Nine girls were all bright-eyed and happy to be heading home. But then fifteen minutes later they were all mostly asleep.
