We arrived in Miami at 1:30pm local time, after a pleasant enough Trans-Atlantic flight, to hot and sticky and sweaty South Florida. We spent our first two hours on American soil tracking down Walker's suitcases that we had shipped earlier via Lufthansa Cargo, and getting them through Customs. Homeland Security changes have even the Customs workers somewhat perplexed, they said, extending the process. But in the end the bags were recieved safe and sound.
Walker met with Stake President Haynie tonight at 7pm and he was officially released from his mission. At home we sat around and told stories of our travels that made us laugh uncontrollably as we discovered our very different memories of the exact same events. It seems that Audrey and Walker find my several clumsy falls as much more entertaining than they actually were.
The girls had decorated our house to welcome Walker back home, and RuthAnn had dinner waiting for us -- including diet coke on ice! I had more ice this evening in one glass of diet coke than I had our whole trip long in Europe.
