Happy Mothers Day

Hey Family,

Well, it was really great to talk to you! I think I forgot, however, to say happy mother's day to mom. Sorry. Maybe next year I'll remember in time.

I feel like I don't have all that much left to say, but let's see if I can find anything. This last week, we went to Arad for Zone Conference. It was really a very fun experience, though sad that it was my last one. The Zone Leaders spoke on Commitment, Sora Ashby talked about a man named John Murdock who played a roll in the early church and about his trials and the strength of his faith, and President Ashby spoke about our personal obedience. He touched on many important aspects of obedience, including how many times we don't exactly know why or for what purpose we have certain rules or guidelines, but obedience to them always yields blessings, assuming they come from God. I was also called on to give a 10 minute talk about Enduring to the End. A good topic for this, my last transfer. Well, I had also prepared to speak on commitment and about how when we are truly committed to a course of action and doubt not our ability, then we are endowed with the power to do miracles and to endure to the end. For lunch at ZC, we had some really good Romanian food. Oh, how I'm going to miss the Romanian food!

Today, we went up to the fortress on the mountain overlooking the city here in Deva. We will have to go see it when you get in to town. There were us four missionaries (including our Zone Leaders from Arad), four members (youth) and a couple of investigators. After going and taking pictures, etc.. at the fort, we went to see a nearby castle. Unfortunately, it was closed, but it was a fun journey anyway, and it was neat to see the outside of it.

Otherwise, everything is going pretty much the same here. President Ashby came and spoke at church on Sunday, which was really great! The members loved hearing his thoughts on the Book of Mormon and the importance of families, and it was good for the investigators to hear as well.

I really love being a missionary. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and that through Him we can stand blameless before God at the last day. I love Him and seek to help others receive the peace and love of the gospel. May God bless you all til next I write,

Much love,
Elder Walker
