Hello Family,
Well, things are going well as usual here in Bacau. I really love the branch here which, though struggling, is growing and progressing again after a bit of a holiday lull. I am very grateful for our investigators and for the wonderful members that we work with. We are trying to prepare investigators for baptism, members for the temple in May, and to help leaders in their callings.
The district has really stepped it up over the last week, as the holidays have FINALLY come to an end and the world is returning to normal. We have been working a lot with the less active members and were excited to see that a couple of them: Raluca and Florin, have been coming to activities and even the Sunday services for the past couple of weeks. It is really a thrilling concept that we were able to influence somebody towards good!
I am really not looking forward to the end of this transfer, which will be a week from Wednesday. I just wish that I had just a bit more time to see our top investigators, Maria and Valentin, get baptized, and to work on helping the branch as it continues to adjust. Who knows if I will be transferred or not? Maria, our top investigator, has suffered from some personal problems as both her mother and the mother of her deceased husband have been recently rushed to the ER with major health problems. Today we started a special fast for her and we will be praying hard that she will be able to keep close to Christ throughout these trials. Otherwise, we are very excited for her efforts to quit coffee and to prepare herself for baptism. She came to church yesterday, even though her mother was in the hospital, and all of the sisters in Relief Society said they would pray for her mother and were very supportive and encouraging. I am very grateful for their efforts and love.
Elder Kozlenko is progressing well, though struggling still with the language and a couple of differences between Russian and Romanian missionary work. With all the communication barriers between us, however, he is generally a good companion, quick to make peace and, though occasionally grudging, almost always obedient in the end. He is finally starting to develop a greater desire to learn the language, and I have tried hard to have him plan out and teach significant parts of lessons. All told, I think that training has definitely humbled me and taught me a lot about the importance of patience and Christ-like love.
As for the travel plans, they sound good. No, my release date will not change. The most convenient hotel, though kind of expensive would be the Phoenix, though the Erbas (lower quality 2 stars), the Caro (middling quality 3), or any hotel in Buc really (esp. Sector 1 or 2) would be fine. Just two days ago I went to the post office to pick up the cassette tape that Cristian and Wendy sent. Thanks a bunch. As for the other stuff, I still haven't gotten anything, though I get things pretty slow up here in Bacau and G-ma's package was accidentally sent to the missionaries in Iasi.
Well, I have to go, but I guess I should tell you the reason why I'm writing so late is that we went go-carting this morning. Super fun!! Quite a fun p-day activity. We were going about 40 mph around a super large track. Definitely a thrill. Oh yeah, and I felt like I handled my cart the best, though I'm sure the others would disagree.
Well, I love you much and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Love muchly,
Elder Frahm
